What is VoIP?

What is VoIP? VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and is a technology which allows voice traffic to be transmitted over a data network.

Using a broadband connection and a hosted VoIP telephone system supplier such as vivi®, you are able to make and receive calls over your network from any location that has a suitable internet connection.

Businesses who are looking to reduce their communication costs are now making the change to VoIP.  Traditional BT telephone lines and "on the wall" PBX telephone systems are expensive and do not deliver the features that cloud based VoIP telephone systems can achieve. For a list of the included features that can benefit your business please see our Features Page

With cloud based VoIP you don't need multiple telephone lines to handle multiple telephone calls.  Virtual VoIP lines operate across your broadband connection and onnly use 90k bandwidth for a high quality line, which is a very small amount of data. Even the slowest broadband lines can handle multiple calls – See our article on BT lines vs virtual phone lines
